Child Support

Hi I’m Steve, one of the lawyers here at the Houston Lawyer Referral Service.

I’m going to talk to you today about some family law issues that are probably of concern to you.

One of the first things we’re going to talk about today is child support. The State of Texas requires both parents to support their children and that’s a matter of public policy. If you are a single parent and you need assistance then the Houston Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service is a place for you to call.

In the State of Texas, you are entitled to support from the other spouse if you are the primary parent. If you have one child, you’re entitled to 20% of net resources. If you have two children, you’re entitled to 25% of net resources. If you have three children, 30% of net resources.

A qualified attorney from the Houston Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service can provide you counseling and adequate and very thorough representation in helping you get the child support that you deserve.
